EA Caf St Julien - Alpinism week-end

Departure on Saturday morning from the Tour for the ascent to the refuge. A small break in the shade benefits to all. The path rises quietly in the woods, then quickly progresses towards the moraine.

Having arrived at the refuge, we find Georges and Charles with a group of adults of the club. It is a great opportunity to share a moment and to meet!
But that's not everything, we also want to revise the evolution with crampons on the rocks and how to progress roped up... Then we depart for the slopes above the refuge! There is no need to go far. For Ori and Léo, it is the first time they put on  crampons! Louis and Nicolas help them out to put them on ant to remove them before leaving the scene in a small snowball fight.

We eat comfortably in the refuge and prepare the bags for the next day after which we go to sleep because we get up early!
On Sunday morning: very beautiful sight! We are not the only parties for the Aiguille du Tour, the track is already done! By sunrise, the summits are illuminated by the sun and when we cross the Superior pass, the view is awesome! We make a short break before continuing till the beginning of the ascent

We took off for the summit! A little before the ascent we meet JL with a young person of the EA Léman. Nice exchange!

We climb with crampons! Louis leads his party carefully and with precision.

There are a lot of people, the weather is beautiful and it is a classic route for initiation so it's necessary to wait a little before we all get to the summit!

The descent is the ideal opportunity for our new encadrante Elise to have fun in the snow with Léo and Nicolas.

A fast stop in the refuge Albert 1st to make our bags and to eat, before going down to the Tour.
Movie coming soon to theaters!  ;)

We take advantage of long evenings of June to go for a walk to the Gralet. It is always the same pleasure; an effective ascent and a magnificent view on the Alps! 5 of our youngest Teens in the EA really had fun! Picnic in front of the refuge, fire and games before coming down again with headlamps in the woods.

Movie coming up soon...

EA CAF St-Julien - Via Ferrata on the heights of Fort L'Ecluse

The long evenings of June are convenient to the excursions, the weather is nice and it is the opportunity to make a via ferrata after the classes.
For the beginners, it is a first confrontation with verticality, for the others a beautiful stroll between both forts.
After some rather vertical sections , we find ourselves on a big ledge. The opportunity to take some pictures before ending with the final small climb and the monkey bridge.!

Once our via ferrata finished, direction the big superior fort with a view of the Bassin Lémanique.
We share a picnic before descending in the woods with headlamps.
A pleasant evening with enjoyment and cheerfulness, as usual!

Rock and Bivouac WE in the Aiguilles Rouges

We take advantage of the peace preceding the summer season to make a beautiful excursion in the Aiguilles Rouges. The cable railway doesn't work yet and the Aiguilles aren't very frequented. We leave the parking lot of the Brévent heavily charged with all we need to bivouac, to climb, to eat... it certainly fills our bags.

A beautiful ascent under the sun and in the woods leads us over Planpraz where we decide to install our bivouac.
After a good picnic, we begin the approach of the climbing route Crakoucass approach, the ski slopes are still well covered with snow and allow us to ascend almost directly.

The climb is fun, the snowy descent also!

Arrived at the bivouac, the water and meal operation begins. The view is awesome, but, on the other side, the Aiguilles of Chamonix get cloudy..
We look at the weather report: no rain before 14 o'clock... We settle down under the balconies of a chalet for the night! 15 minutes later, it is as if a waterfall were trying to test the waterproofness of the bivouac bags.

On Sunday morning, its still raining...
At 8 am finally, we can see the sun! We dry our equipment and have breakfast. The weather report still seems as uncertain and we take advantage of the good weather period to come back down

The timing is perfect, the rain starts again when we arrive at the parking lot.

EA CAF St-Julien en G - Climbing and MTB holiday

After a couple displays of strength, our 7 MTBs and our climbing gears are loaded in the mini-van lended to us by the city of St-Julien and a car. There is only enough space left for the teens! And we're off for 4 days in the Dentelles de Montmirail.
After a couple hours drive, we have finally arrived at our  camping spot. Everybody helps to empty the van and build the tents, eager to get a taste of the exceptional limestone slabs in the area!
We took advantage of the afternoon sun to climb! For most of us, it's the first time of the season that we climb! And we all enjoyed it!

Our day started under heavy rain... so we took out the bikes to explore a bit and to check our knowledge in orientation (in a small forest, with neither sun nor visibility, its easy to miss an intersection...), and we managed it pretty well!

We arrive at the summit with a sunny welcome, and an amazing view on the region.

We come back to our camping and we take an all too welcome shower & lunch before taking off again, this time to climb in the waterfall sector (with of course, artificial and friend placement exercises and multi-pitch belay and rappels).

The next day, the sunniest one of our journey, was dedicated entirely to multi-pitch climbing, where we could be leaders if we felt like it.
Very nice discovery of the central chain of the Dentelles, and Long live cakes!

The last day, the weather is subject to change and we need to get back home, so we decide to do a MTB tour to work a bit on our orientation again. The terrain permits us to make things faster (way faster than the hours spent in traffic jams!...

The teens came back very tired but motivated to come again (video coming out soon)
